When the Teacher is Ready
When the Teacher is Ready…
The Student Arrives
As the saying goes, “When the student is ready, the teacher arrives,” The same is true for the teacher. When the teacher is ready, the student arrives. This is how I was called back into teaching Reiki. I hadn’t taught it in several years. It just fell away somehow. Reiki was still part of my life. It’s in my art, self-care practice, and other ways. I just wasn’t teaching it. The call was a simple conversation with a friend about Reiki and what style I use.
I have amassed a variety of training in Reiki. I am a Reiki Master Teacher in the Usui Tradition, Usui/Holy Fire II, and Karuna and Karuna/Holy Fire II. In addition to my Reiki energy studies, I have spent years studying and teaching QiGong. My introduction to the world of energy was in a Tai Chi class, which brought me to study Healing Touch, go to massage school, and much more. That may be the foundation of where I am now, but it is not the focus of today’s sharing.
Today, it is about the beauty of the “simple art of inviting happiness,” as Master Usui was regarded as saying. So, back to the call by the student. It was several conversations with a friend and her interest in becoming a Reiki Master. It was a one-on-one class. It seemed simple enough: help a friend receive something that has been in my blood since 2009 (you do the math!). What transpired was a realignment of energy and purpose. It was soft at first and has become increasingly more prevalent as the days go on. It’s in the synchronicities, the meetings, the art, and even the environment. More people are inquiring about when the next class will be.
I am excited to share that a calendar is building for 2024. I will co-teach with Elaine Riley, my friend who is now a Usui/Holy Fire II Reiki Master, because of a simple conversation. We continue our discussions about Reiki, and Reiki continues the conversation with us. Usui/Holy Fire II is the current class offering for 2024. We will have Reiki I & II taught together over a weekend workshop. The Master class is a Three-Day intensive. What is coming is the need for more Reiki Practitioners worldwide. Reiki is “the simple art of inviting happiness,” as Master Usui notes in its ideals. The turbulent world needs this simple art. It is a practice, an awareness, a vibrant way of seeing and sensing. It courses through the blood and chi of the practitioner, and when used in a session, the recipient experiences the same awareness.
As a Reiki Master, the key is allowing Reiki to work in you, then through you. Reiki is not wielded like a sword in battle. It is softer, like a firm hand guiding in a soft glove. Follow the energy is always the best advice.
If you are looking for a class in the Wilmington, NC, area, please view the class page and events calendar. If you want to experience Reiki, there are also Reiki Share events on the calendar. If you have questions about Reiki, please email or visit me at the Seaglass Monthly Market on the 3rd weekend of every month.
I am excited to see what this year of Reiki will bring. Blessings.
